The history and concept behind our "Surf 'N Turf Showdown" Pickleball Vacations.
The inspiration for this unique luxury pickleball experience dates back to 2015. During a tour of Sandals South Coast (then known as White House), my husband Craig and I met with Sandals upper management, David Roper & Mark Shea, who graciously facilitated our visit. Noticing the condition of the tennis courts, I approached the management, including Adrian Whitehead and Sales Manager Simone Grey, with a proposal: if they were to resurface the courts, I would commit to bringing a pickleball group. They agreed, and within one year, the resurfacing was complete.
This pivotal moment led to the establishment of the "Surf 'N Turf Showdown". In 2016, the first ever pickleball experience at any Sandals was launched with the expertise of teaching professional Dee Davison (among others), and Lisa Milbrath, an attendee, now the only person/pro to attend all Surf 'N Turf trips.
Since its inception in 2016, I have had the pleasure of organizing "Surf 'N Turf Showdown" Pickleball Vacations. These trips are meticulously designed to offer a blend of competitive play, professional clinics, and engaging social events. We proudly host our events at premier Sandals and Beaches Resorts throughout the Caribbean, with past and upcoming destinations including Jamaica, St. Lucia, Turks and Caicos, the Bahamas, and most recently, Curacao.
